Mother’s Day gift ideas

Our guide to the best Mother’s Day gifts from independent, small and local shops in Leyton and the surrounding area.

We’ve loved getting to know Emily from Continuous Line Studio, who started her illustration business in lockdown. Remind your mum of where you live and get her excited about the day she can visit, with this lovely Francis Road 2.0 print £15 (see our copy here) displaying Phlox Books, Yardarm, Marmelo and George’s Den. We also love the New York Art Deco print (which we recently purchased). All prices on A4 and A3 reduced so get in there now!

Give your mum the gift of a Sunday rest and recoup curtesy of Leyton based Juno’s (the lovely wellness and events cafe) Sunday Service Zoom event. It’s on Sunday 28th March at 7.30 pm. For £25 you get 45-minutes of stretching and yoga and 45-minutes of sound healing. Since you can bring a friend for free, why not do it with your mum?

Deeneys on Leyton High Road are offering a Mother’s Day hamper a £35 box of goodies containing 1 x bottle of Fior de Cassia prosecco, 1 x Elles Flower Co bouquet (Check out our recent IG post on them), 1 x bar of Coco Chocolatier Chocolate and 1 x Stengun’s card. Pre-order now for collection from the Leyton Deeneys from March 10th. Available for UK wide delivery by March 12th. Deeneys will package it and ship it, with a personalised message, just leave this in the comments on purchase.

If your mum is anything like my mum, she loves her gin. Why not get her a bottle of Mother’s Ruin Damson Gin? We reviewed a bottle in June last year on LeytonLove and can confirm it is delicious. She can make herself a Damson in Distress cocktail by adding lemon juice, plum bitters and Amaretto. A 200ml Damson Gin bottle is £14.95 and 500ml is £27.50. They offer free collection from the Mother’s Ruin E17 base in the Ravenswood Estate or shipping starts from £3.90, plus gift wrapping is £1 per bottle.

The notorious Leytonstone based Noted Eel and Pie House has been serving East London since 1926, and now they are serving up pies and mash for your mum this Mother’s Day. If you leave a message at checkout they will even write your mum a card to go along with it. All orders must be placed by 11am Wednesday and will be delivered on Friday

Cocktails in the sun Mum? Yes please. Point Cocktails are based at the Leyton Midland Arches across from Perky Blenders. Paloma is the Point crew’s latest drop, containing Rooster Rojo Blanco Tequila, pink grapefruit, lime and soda. It really tastes on point (I couldn’t resist that one). It’s a little bit sweet with a touch of sour. Your mum only needs to pour this into a fancy glass with ice and pretend she’s on holiday (like we are in this photo). A 4 pack is £24 and a 12 pack £60, with free delivery for £40, order by 10pm for overnight delivery, which dispatches Monday and Thursday. Also check out their Mother’s Day Cocktails and Chocolate gift pack at £28.

‘The Perky Mum box’ £20 contains all the treats your mum needs to perk her up. The box contains goodies from Perky Blender’s partners, including a packet of Raspberry Beret Coffee of the Month, a packet of the Great British Porridge Co (Red Berry and Pumpkin Seed, Love Cocoa limited edition floral chocolate and Space Masks (which I’ve tried and they actually ARE interstellar ). Lovely shot by Carmel King.
